Sensitisation & Awareness
IGES conducts sensitisation initiatives that promote awareness, build understanding, and embed gender equity into everyday campus life. These efforts target all sections of the academic community—from new students and faculty to staff—ensuring everyone understands their rights, responsibilities, and the institutional mechanisms in place to address discrimination and harassment. To support a gender-aware culture, IGES organises orientation sessions for incoming undergraduate and PhD students, as well as newly joined faculty members. These sessions cover institutional policies on gender discrimination, POSH guidelines, and available support systems.
The office also develops educational tools, such as an interactive assignment for first-year undergraduates focused on consent, sexism, and gender dynamics. In public spaces, IGES are in forces key messages through visual media. Informative hoardings on POSH and inclusion are placed in hostels, eateries, and academic zones across the campus. Cultural engagement—through exhibitions, film screenings, and thematic campaigns—further strengthens awareness and empathy around gender issues in STEM and higher education.
